The adequacy decision includes, among otherthings, restrictions and safeguards on access to data by US intelligence agencies. Binding safeguards wereintroduced to limit US intelligence agencies' access to what is necessary and proportionate to protect nationalsecurity. In addition, enhanced oversight of US intelligence activities was established to ensure thatrestrictions on surveillance activities are respected.
